DADAA welcomes new board chair Tom Monks

The DADAA Board takes great pleasure in announcing the appointment of Tom Monks to the role of Chair of DADAA. Tom’s appointment continues DADAA’s long history as a disability-led arts organisation.

Tom is the Director and Solicitor of Tom & Co Legal, a law firm practising family law, migration, not-for-profit and commercial law with a focus on providing quality and culturally appropriate legal services to CaLD communities. He was also the principal consultant at a strategic development and management consultancy based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia for over 8 years.

He has extensive experience working with not-for-profit organisations and is well-versed in the challenges this sector faces. His background in strategic planning, governance, and leadership will add immense value to the DADAA Board. Tom is a former Chair of People with Disabilities WA, and current Chair of the St Gerard’s Catholic School Advisory Council, Deputy Chair of Technology for Ageing and Disabilities WA, and a Board member of Metropolitan Cemeteries Board.

Tom is committed to the arts as a vehicle for social change and making a positive impact on people’s lives, and he looks forward to communicating this mission to a wider audience. “I have a deep appreciation for the importance of creating a space where individuals with disabilities can express themselves creatively and meaningfully. I believe that the work that DADAA is doing is incredibly important and impactful, and I very pleased to be part of it.”

Having a Chair who brings a lived experience of disability continues DADAA’s long-held commitment to being a diverse, disability-led organisation. We are excited to see DADAA’s leadership in such experienced hands.
