Join us at PICA for a tactile tour of Katie West’s exhibition We hold you close.
Drawing together textiles, sound, storytelling, and community practice, York-based Yindjibarndi artist Katie West has created her most ambitious project to date for PICA’s vast central gallery spaces.
Katie West’s vibrant installation comprises layered textile works that carry the colours and scents of country within an immersive video and soundscape made in collaboration with York-based composer Simon Charles and featuring string musicians Djuna Lee and Jameson Feakes.
Visitors to the exhibition are invited to sit on hand-dyed soft-furnishings, sip a cup of tea, and join in the making of hand-twisted string from repurposed fabric. Over the course of the exhibition, the string becomes an ever expanding supportive structure made by all who have visited.
Bookings are essential and limited. Please email info@pica.org.au or call 9228 6300 to book.
