Kwop Wirin (Good Spirits) is a group exhibition four emerging Aboriginal artists who work out of DADAA’s Midland Studio: Jemma Garlett, Mandy White, Jade Lawrence, and Carolyn Hateley.

The work for the exhibition was commissioned by the Rottnest Island Authority following an artist tour to the island in August 2022. Working to the  theme Impressions of the Wadjemup Landscape, the artists  developed their works in the studio from the emotions and experiences inspired by their visit.

This exhibition will lead on to the first Artist Residency program on the island for an Aboriginal artist with disability in early 2023.

DADAA acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Wadjemup, the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation, their ancestors and their Elders past, present and emerging. We acknowledge and respect their continuing culture and the contribution they make to the life of this Island and this region.

DADAA respectfully acknowledges the Whadjuk and Yued people of the Noongar nation and the Southern Yamatji Peoples, the traditional owners of the lands upon which DADAA operates. We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.
