Opening night

Friday, 21 Jan 2022

Featuring artwork from DADAA Lancelin’s studio program 2021 as well as the project Artcards From Around the World.

Artcards From Around the World explored how to build and maintain connections with friends and family around the world during a time of isolation and restrictions. The project grew out of conversations with participants about travel restrictions and how to use art to remain connected. DADAA staff, participants and community members contributed the names of contacts from overseas they thought would like to be part of the project. They then created artworks on postcards and sent them to the people on our list.

Then they waited and waited, and waited some more… the anticipation building before artcards in reply started coming in thick and fast. From Mexico to Switzerland, the UK, New Zealand, USA, as well as other states of Australia, the diversity of the artcards reflected the differing ages and skills of the correspondents.

Connections were created that are hoped will last long into the future.
