Unfiltered

Bold voices and stories. Diverse storytellers share unfiltered experiences, from comedic takes on everyday life to fantastical journeys beyond the stars. Whether true or imagined, no story is off-limits.

Unfiltered is a podcast program for DADAA participants with intellectual disability or neurodiversity. Participants learn all the basics of podcasting and produce their own podcasts covering topics and stories that are important to them. Themes vary from life passions like travel and filmmaking to more complex issues like family dynamics and growing up as a first generation Australian. The open format allows for a range of possibilities, including interviews, poetry or both fiction and non-fiction stories.

The podcasts are developed in weekly workshops at our Fremantle, Midland, and Lancelin studios. Participants have learnt about a broad range of podcast genres and styles and brainstormed and developed ideas for their own podcasts. They have also learnt about podcasting equipment and as well as basic recording and editing, creating foley and producing and sourcing sound effects and music online.

A series of guest speakers and mentors with extensive radio and storytelling experience have shared their insights into story development, presentation and production.

DADAA respectfully acknowledges the Whadjuk and Yued people of the Noongar nation and the Southern Yamatji Peoples, the traditional owners of the lands upon which DADAA operates. We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters, and culture, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.
